I completed B.Tech Honours in Mechanical Engg. this year (2021) from IIT Madras. I would like to share this good news with you - I was awarded "Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma Prize" for being the best outgoing student among all B.Tech undergraduates of the 2021 Batch of IIT Madras during the convocation held on Nov. 20. I was selected basis my performance in cultural, curricular & co-curricular activities and academics.

I am truly grateful to NPS and all my teachers for imbibing the values that helped me to perform and achieve.

It’s a Monday morning. You’re bleary-eyed and sleepy, wondering if you’ll get into trouble for that homework you forgot about; it’s cold, and you just want to go back home and into bed! But, you turn into the school-gates instead!!! And . . . immediately, a thrum of dynamism hits you. There are smiles, people chattering away, a hum of vigour and vitality that is so, so infectious! Welcome to National Public School Indiranagar, where Monday mornings don’t feel like ‘Monday mornings’, and that is just a small sample of what makes NPS, Indiranagar so inherently special!!

NPS Indiranagar has come a long way since it was instituted in 1982, under the chairmanship of Dr. K P Gopalkrishna. Generations of students have graduated since then; the campus has evolved and grown – spread out across four buildings, playgrounds for toddlers and a sports-field, too. The school takes pride in a strong academic reputation as well as a holistic approach towards the complete development of well-rounded personalities. It has been an on-going progression for more than 35 years now.

Year after year, students from NPS, Indiranagar get accepted into the most prestigious of institutions after graduating from school – from AIIMS to IITs to Ivy League Schools and many more. In the Board Examinations, the students score impressively high percentages, and a year never goes by when this academic excellence, as well as the stellar performances of the students, is not featured in the newspapers.

At NPS, Indiranagar, diversity is welcomed with open arms and presents itself in every form. The school encourages growth of talent, not only by readily providing a variety of platforms, but also allowing students to create their own opportunities and taking initiative. The year 2018 saw three fests being held in the school, organised by the senior students themselves – and all three turned out to be enormous successes. This is also reflected in the ever-increasing list of accolades brought home by students – from trekking mountains, to winning international debates and competitions, or even attaining National ranks in sports. All this happens without compromising on the academics.

It is only natural then that the school is forever abuzz with activity! Yes, you cannot get bored at NPS, Indiranagar. The atmosphere is always rife with enthusiasm. Within the school itself, there are inter-house activities, organised by the various student associations – covering everything from the visual and performing arts to Math and Science quizzes; from debates and MUNs to Astronomy club contests and Entrepreneurship ventures. The students’ eagerness to win these competitions is driven not only by the idea of the elusive house-cup, but also for the prospect to develop and showcase their own skills.

Another distinctive factor of NPS, Indiranagar is the teaching faculty. Adept at what they teach, they create such an enjoyable learning environment not only inside the classroom, but outside it too. Always there for their students, the teachers extend their enthusiasm and influence into the students’ lives and leave an everlasting impact. With such inspiring teachers and capable students, NPS, Indiranagar maintains a high standard, in academics and beyond...

The fact of the matter is that, in the hearts of students and teachers alike, NPS, Indiranagar resonates very closely with the word ‘home’. In December 2018, the school organised ‘Encore’, a reunion for all its alumni. Students belonging to even the earliest batches came to visit their former stomping grounds, their Alma Mater, from far and wide, across the country and the globe! With that distinguished celebration, it can be affirmed that NPS, Indiranagar has joined the illustrious ranks of schools with a long and glorious history.

As W B Yeats said, "Education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire." And that is what NPS Indiranagar does for all its students. As the old adage goes, you can take a person out of NPS, Indiranagar, but you can never take the NPS, Indiranagar out of them – and that speaks volumes about our school.
