On 12 July 2024, the 'World Paper Bag Day', which is being increasingly observed all over the globe at present, to prompt everyone towards adopting more sustainable options than plastic bags, we saw our school making very active strides. To drive the realistic message of our Earth getting choked by irresponsible shopping habits, we had students of Grades 3, 4 and 5 coming together to make hundreds of paper bags, decorate them and hand them over to the civic society.
The day became more meaningful with distinguished guests from 'Vidyaranya', an NGO in the city executing different developmental programmes for deprived women, under-privileged children, and senior citizens. They interacted with the children and talked about their different initiatives. The session with Mr. Shivshankar on this day, not just made the students of NPS Indiranagar aware of the harmful impact of plastic on our environment, and the need to avoid flat-bottom-plastics for shopping, but also about how we can all have a mission in life to be concerned about the world around us and be helpful to society. It turned out to be a productive day with the posters we made, and the invaluable message shared on sustainable living.
