International Yoga Day is celebrated worldwide on 21 June annually. In the Montessori at National Public School, Indiranagar it was no different.
The children had a weeklong celebration starting with learning the word yoga and having yoga sessions every day. They practiced a simple warm up routine and moved on to basic asanas and postures. They enjoyed stretching and were fascinated by the names of the asanas like bhadhakonasana, janushirshasana and bhujangasana. The children were guided through postures to help increase blood circulation to the head and other asanas that aid in building body strength.
The plank challenge brought in an element of fun for the Seniors. They will continue this and make it a part of their daily routine.
