Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in the Montessori began with the children brightening the school by wearing traditional clothes. A couple of days earlier, we had washed and soaked chana. The next morning, the soaked chana was put in a damp cloth to sprout. Imagine the children’s surprise and delight when they saw that the chana had sprouted so well after the weekend. They learnt about high-protein foods and the benefits of eating sprouts.
The children added to their vocabulary words, such as "mantap," "modak," and "mushik," and the various names of Ganesha. They also learnt to recite a Ganapati Shloka with actions.
