Library Week – Let’s Celebrate the Story

With the noble thought of paying an ode to the Story, the Library at National Public School, Indiranagar, celebrated ‘Library Week – Let’s Celebrate the Story,’ between the 10th and 14th February 2020.

Library Week was very well celebrated through guest authors’ promotional talk about their upcoming books, through real life experiences, and with lot of interaction with the children. Eminent children’s authors Ms. Deepa Agarwal and Ms. Kavita Mandanna, talked to the children of classes 5-8 about their journey in creating the story which then took the shape of a popular book.

A reading program around the books of Ruskin Bond and Sudha Murty was very popular among the students. Some of those who reviewed the books they read, were felicitated by the guest authors with book coupons as prizes.

A quiz based on books, authors and famous fictional characters, animation stories depicting moral values, a film based on a short story by Ruskin Bond, fun art activities around well-known characters from fairy tales, were some of the other attractions of the Library Week.

A 5-day book fair organized by a leading vendor, displaying a wide range of fictional and non-fictional titles, and offering handsome discounts was a big hit with the students and teachers alike. In totality, the concept of a story was thoroughly celebrated, the children felt very motivated to read better. “The Library week was a wonderful experience for me. I came to know of many good authors I had never heard of.’ said Maya of class 6.

National Public School Indiranagar, therefore took its first but firm steps towards reviving the magic of storytelling, story writing and reading.
