Graduation Day is not just the cessation of school life, but simultaneously, the commencement of life outside the four walls of this safe refuge. No wonder, the day comes with a plethora of emotions for students, teachers and families alike. It is a time of celebration, reminiscence and reflections, as the future unfurls with a myriad of promises.

National Public School, Indiranagar, commemorated its Graduation Ceremony for the batch of 2019-2020 on 25th January. The event was initiated by the dignitaries lighting the lamp followed by the invocation song, performed by our gifted students and accompanied by on-the-spot artwork by our art teacher. This confluence of music and art set the tone for the events of the evening to unfold.

Ms. Shantha Chandran, Principal, NPS Indiranagar, shared a heartfelt message from Dr Bindu Hari (Director TISB, NAFL & NPS Group of Schools), advising the students to make the right choices that will determine the course of their future years. In her convocation discourse, Ms. Chandran reminded her protégés to cherish every moment, even if the moment is not captured or shared, to put down their phones every now and then and participate in the odyssey of life, and most importantly, tap into the diverse breadth and depth of their talents to ‘reach out, reach high, reach beyond’.

Thereafter, the Chief Guest of the evening, Dr. Sanjiv Sambandan (Joint Faculty between University of Cambridge, UK and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore), addressed and advised the students to cultivate the skill of wisdom, nurturing it like a plant, in tranquillity and calmness, and enriching it every now and then, with real-life interactions with peers and elders.

The presentation of mementos to the graduating students was interspersed with a spectacular performance of fusion music, an emotionally charged speech, delivered by Dr. Satish Rudrappa, a parent representative, and a spectacular dance recital by the students of the graduating batch. As the proud recipients of the batch of 2020 walked up the stage, the comperes revealed how their transformations were affected by their personal journeys in school. This was followed by speeches made by the three student speakers, Nischal S, Aravinth S and Priyanka S, who extolled the impact and influence of the school in shaping and defining them as individuals. This momentous evening drew to a close with the customary student pledge and candle-lighting ceremony, followed by the robust and invigorating school song and the national anthem.
