As part of their ongoing exposure to environmental studies, a field visit was organised for the children of KG2 to the plant nursery in Jeevan Bhima Nagar on 16 Aug 19. The aim of the visit was to broaden their understanding of plant life and how a green environment can benefit living beings on this planet. Since the EVS concept is being taught in class, the students were able to identify the different types of plant life, including trees, shrubs, climbers and creepers. The children were able to name the different flowers, trees and leaves. They were fascinated to see the lotus pond and they were able to relate many of the plants and trees to what they have seen at their grandparents’ home. With their curiosity kindled, the children spent a productive day filled with excitement of discovery and proximity to nature. They got a first-hand experience on how plants are nurtured in the field. The visit was a revalidation of how experiential learning can be used to inculcate in the students respect for nature.
