A visit to Nilgiris Supermarket was organised for the kindergarten 1 students related to the EVS topic – Food we eat. In the supermarket the students observed a variety of fruits and vegetables. They got an opportunity to see and distinguish between vegetables that grow underground and some fruits and vegetables which grow on creepers and climbers. They also saw the section of the supermarket where different cereal s and milk products were displayed, they were able to immediately associate their learning to the product and its source. They were anxious to look for the green and the red dot on the wrapper of the products, hence they were able to distinguish between vegetarian and non-vegetarian products.
