NPS is committed to preparing students for the 21 century by providing a wide array of opportunities for the multi-dimensional personality development of each student. In keeping with this commitment, the students of Class 6 at NPS Indiranagar participate in a hands-on business experience called the Young Entrepreneurs Programme (YEP). The YEP curriculum uses a comprehensive approach to learning that takes the students through the entire process of starting a small business.
The YEP connects learning with real-life experiences and tangible goals. Through the development and delivery of a business plan, students develop real-world business awareness, while reinforcing Math, Reading, Speaking and Writing skills. Hence, the YEP connects students with their studies in a very authentic way. It offers them a chance to ‘think out of the box’ and prepares them to be globally smart and ready. All students who have participated in YEP can say that they have owned a business. Our goal at NPS Indiranagar is to bring the students’ original business idea to the business market by engaging them in a step-by-step process where each group of students creates and starts their own business by raising capital, designing and manufacturing a product, marketing the product and drawing up a balance sheet. In addition, the students gain a valuable skill including collaborative teamwork and presentation skills.
The students of Class 6 enjoy ‘owning’ a business and ‘marketing’ their products in Namma Puttani Sante. All of them make a profit which is donated to a charity organization.

YEP had been an excellent and innovative programme. It brought in the business thinking, emphasized the importance of team work and the urge to do something very useful.
Above all, the icing on the cake is the contribution of the profits to the Spastics Society Indira Nagar; I was really touched when Shriya spoke to me about her experiences when contributing to the children at the Spastic society. This drove the message that any business should positively contribute to the people and the society. I strongly believe that only such businesses would achieve sustained growth.
Thanks to you for taking the students on such a wonderful journey – business & profit to society and environment.
I would encourage you to run similar programme for senior classes as well.

This was a commendable initiative by the management and teachers of NPS Indira Nagar to give a real time experience to the children of 6th grade on entrepreneurship. It was really heartening to witness the children prepare so professionally, under the mentorship of their teachers. We were indeed pleased and immensely proud to see them presenting their plans in a PPT, so structured, strategic and with clear objectives!
The children’s participation in the event with each one assuming different roles have definitely given them an understanding of various key functions in business management.
Their visit to the Spastic society was a perfect closure to this great initiative as they really experienced the other side of the world! We are sure it was a good opportunity for them to realise how privileged they are.
Hearty congratulations again to the students, teachers and the school management on this great initiative.
