Who would miss an opportunity to play in the esteemed tournament? And why would they - after all it is one of Bangalore's most anticipated and exciting premier sports tournaments of the year which traditionally occurs in the month of February for grades 9 and below which are divided into two categories - for grades 6 and below and for grades 9 and below. What an opportunity this is for burgeoning sport stars – you get the opportunity to play for your school, international infrastructure and get an exposure to compete with skills outside your school. This prestigious tournament offers a great stage to showcase skills in various sports such as cricket, football for boys and girls, basketballfor boys and girls, tennis for boys and girls, table tennis for boys and girls, volleyball for boys, badminton for boys and girls, throwball for girls etc.
The students representing our school had to be prepared for all the possible contingencies. Students participating in the tournament put in hours of hard work and training after school and striving to attain unparalleled perfection. With inimitable advice, tips and training from some of the finest physical educators in NPS, our team was unconquerable and the result of their onerous training was soon to be yielded in the tournament.
Day 1 kicked off with a series of victories and medals and as predicted, our school proved to dominate the tournament. This isn't to say that we didn't face any competition. In fact our school was placed in some of the hardest groups facing off against some the elite schools of Bangalore such as Indus, Inventure, and Greenwood High and of course the host school TISB itself. Each of these schools had their eyes set on the victory target and wouldn’t go down without a fight. But all these hurdles only proved to be a stepping stone for paving the way towards the much expected goal. The awaited goal became a reality with our striving strenuously and assiduously towards victory. The skill and technique displayed by our upcoming stars were second to none and many of our budding youngsters proved that soon they could be the promising players at the national level.
The results of the next 4 days were as expected. Our girls badminton team emerged winners in their categories and so did the grade 9 and below throwball team – both of these teams showed exemplary and quintessential efforts, hard work and training truly reaped the benefits. But it wasn’t only these 2 who outshone their opponents. Our other teams like the 9th and below football team, basketball team, boys badminton team, cricket team, volleyball team and tennis teams too transcend past all their opponents and made it all the way to the semi-finals. Even the 6th graders performed sensationally with the football, cricket, badminton, table tennis, basketball, and tennis teams also reaching the semifinals of their corresponding events.
Overall, the TISB tournament ended on a high note and our school shall preserve and cherish all the great victories and memories that the students made that week.
