"Tell me and I forget , Teach me and I remember , Involve me and I learn..."
It is this belief that inspired the first milestone event of the new academic year in National Public School, Indiranagar - Investiture 2014. Deserving and dedicated members of the student fraternity were handpicked and installed as office-bearers of the various academic and co-curricular clubs that contribute to the school's elite profile. The Chief Guest of the event was Dr Bindu Hari, Director, Academics, National Public Schools and TISB.
The ceremony began with the customary school prayer along with a brief note of welcome and introduction. The members of the school choir invoked the blessings of the Almighty through a solemn invocation song. This was followed by bestowing the first set of badges on the House Captains and Vice-Captains by the school Principal Ms Shantha Chandran. Students of the four Houses clapped and cheered for their elected representatives. In a memorable speech in her signature style, Dr Bindu Hari emphasized upon the need to regularly acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of our young impressionable young students. She also conferred the portfolios of Prefect, Vice-Prefects, Sport Captain and Sports Vice-Captain on the chosen students. To add a dash of colour and music to the proceedings, the students of Class 7 presented an enthralling performance as they danced to some popular foot-tapping numbers.
The next set of badges was given away by the Vice-Principal Ms Shirin Jeyakar which included the Literary, Science, Math, Commerce, Quiz and Cyber associations. In keeping with the mood of the event, a medley of songs was presented by the girls of Class 8, followed by the announcement of the posts for MUN, Sewa, Dance, Music and Dramatics Associations who were pinned by Senior Coordinator Ms. Ida Selvakumar. There was a rush of anticipation, emotion and excitement as each name was announced and the proud office-bearer was greeted with thundering applause. NPS is a breeding ground for budding talent which was evident in the next dance number presented by Class 6 students.
The final set of badge-holders was honoured by Coordinator Ms Anuradha Krishna which included the associations of Magazine, Webkraft, Photography, Hindi and Art. NPS believes in the motto "Catch 'em Young"; it believes that the enthusiastic, young leaders of today will fulfill the responsibilities bestowed upon them and blossom out into dynamic, responsible trail-blazers of tomorrow. This momentous event, marked by gaiety, enthusiasm and optimism, wound up with an engaging and inspiring speech by the newly appointed School Prefect.
