Independence Day on August 15 commemorates that day in 1947 when India achieved freedom from British rule. It is celebrated with flag hoisting ceremonies and cultural programmes in the State capitals.
NPS, Indiranagar, also celebrates Independence Day in a colourful style. Students put up a cultural show, which include patriotic songs, dances, quiz programmes and speeches. Primary school children are encouraged to make small flags, tricolour streamers, pinwheels, etc in their craft classes. In the senior classes, art, essay and debate competitions are held at school in keeping with the same thematic fervour.
Republic Day is celebrated on January 26, when our country became a republic.
