The SEWA club of National Public School, Indiranagar takes up initiatives for the benefit of the environment and society. After the successful execution of the 'Wealth out of Waste' drive, SEWA organised the 'Joy of Giving' programme in the last week of October.
Students actively contributed by donating old clothes, books and toys. We managed to collect about 600 kgs of old clothes, 450 kgs of toys and about 210 kgs of books. There was a noticeably substantial contribution from the juniors. The large collection of items was handed over to many deserving beneficiaries which included NGOs such as SMILE Foundation, Goonj, Vidyaranya society, BOSCO, Karunashraya, Shishu Mandir Home, Government Higher Primary School Konena Agrahara and Shri Sharada Vidya Niketan English High School, Indiranagar.
AN ENVIRONMENTAL WEEK BY SEWA AT NPS INDIRANAGAR
This year, the Social Empowerment through Work Action (SEWA) association of National Public School, Indiranagar decided to have a week dedicated to environmental awareness, called 'Fest Habitat'. It was an amalgamation of a host of events aimed at spreading environmental awareness in a fun way.
A number of inter-house activities were held during the week, for both the senior and junior classes. Environment-themed debates and quizzes brought out new and interesting ideas from young minds, and at the same time, increased their knowledge about the environment. In the art competitions, participating students came up with innovative logos for SEWA and made attractive posters about tobacco awareness.
The morning assemblies during Fest Habitat were very interesting as students showcased a song and dance to express the beauty of nature. They also presented a skit and poems in Hindi. Students provided updates on the activities of SEWA, its future plans, and new initiatives such as the environment book shelf in the library, and an e-waste bin. An integral part of each assembly during the week was the quiz, where young quizmasters tested the grey cells of their peers. The assemblies ended with giving away of prizes to winners of the various competitions.
Student volunteers, with the help of their teacher, were in charge of the smooth execution of all activities. It was great to see the enthusiastic participation of all NPSites.
