A hundred and fifteen 12th graders, clad in their graduation gowns, and flanked on either side by their teachers, who have mentored them through the years, marched in procession to the stage. After the ceremonious lighting of the lamp, the evening was auspicated with a song 'KaratalaVeena' invoking the blessings of the Lord.
In his convocation address, the Chief Guest, Padmashree Dr. C N Manjunath, Director, Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research, said, "The future of the nation is getting shaped in the classroom." He urged the students to aim high, work hard and never forget their mother, motherland and teachers.
Dr. K P Gopalkrishna, Chairman of the school, encouraged the students to be hard working and dedicated. The Vice Chairperson, Dr. BinduHari, advised the outgoing batch to make the transition from being receivers, to being contributors to those around them.
A parent, Mr. Venkataraman observed in his address that, "Any job you do is only as interesting as you make it. "He inspired the students to pick any career option but to enjoy what they choose to do. The solemn, yet jubilant occasion culminated with the beautiful candle lighting ceremony as the lights dimmed, followed by the school song 'Shine, let it Shine'.
The students later gave up their gowns to emerge as ravishing young ladies and handsome young men dressed in their best, to join their parents and friends for dinner. All in all, the evening once again epitomized the high benchmark set by NPS over the years.
